<p>The first event of the Triton Poker Jeju festival, a $15,000 buy-in no-limit hold&#8217;em tournament, set a tour record with 379 entrants (266 unique players). Through three events, it&#8217;s not even the largest tournament of the series.</p>
<p>Records are being broken in South Korea this week as the new high roller series is underway. <b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/zhao-hongjun/" class="pokerPlayer">Zhao Hongjun</span></b> won the first event of the series for $818,000, the biggest chunk of the $5,685,000 prize pool. <b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/yuzhu-wang/" class="pokerPlayer">Yuzhu Wang</span></b> took second place for $975,000.</p>
<p><b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/jason-koon/" class="pokerPlayer">Jason Koon</span></b> (10th for $86,000), <b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/adrian-mateos/" class="pokerPlayer">Adrian Mateos</span></b> (12th for $74,000), and <b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/espen-jorstad/" class="pokerPlayer">Espen Jorstad</span></b> (27th for $41,000) were among the 63 players who cashed. The second event of the series, $20,000 No-Limit Hold&#8217;em 8-Handed, had an even larger prize pool of $6,960,000 from 348 players. <b>Tuck Wai Foo</b> took it down for $1,350,000, beating <b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/mario-mosbock/" class="pokerPlayer">Mario Mosbock</span></b> ($856,000) heads-up for the title.</p>
<p><b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/ethan-yau/" class="pokerPlayer">Ethan &#8220;Rampage&#8221; Yau</span></b> (14th for $90,000), <b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/alexander-seibt/" class="pokerPlayer">Alexander &#8220;Wolfgang&#8221; Seibt</span></b> (22nd for $62,000), and <b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/chris-brewer/" class="pokerPlayer">Chris Brewer</span></b> (33rd for $41,000) all left the tournament with money in their pockets. </p>

<h2 id="triton-poker-record">Triton Poker Record is Set</h2>
<p>The Triton Poker attendance record was set in Event #1, but it was surpassed in Event #3 with 392 entrants registered for the $25,000 No-Limit Hold&#8217;em 8-Handed tournament. There were still 73 players remaining, at the time of publishing.</p>
<p>Two players in this event will walk away with a seven-figure payday, with first place set to pay $1,892,000, and the runner-up will receive $1,193,000. The money bubble was fast approaching when we ran this story as the top 63 will be paid. A min-cash is worth $41,500.</p>
<p>Some of the players still standing as the bubble looms include chip leader <b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/stephen-song/" class="pokerPlayer">Stephen Song</span></b>, <b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/jeremy-ausmus/" class="pokerPlayer">Jeremy Ausmus</span></b>, <b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/phil-ivey/" class="pokerPlayer">Phil Ivey</span></b>, <b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/kristen-bicknell/" class="pokerPlayer">Kristen Foxen</span></b>, and <b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/fedor-holz/" class="pokerPlayer">Fedor Holz</span></b>. The list of notables who&#8217;ve already busted include <b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/joey-weissman/" class="pokerPlayer">Joey Weissman</span></b>, <b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/ren-lin/" class="pokerPlayer">Ren Lin</span></b>, <b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/rainer-kempe/" class="pokerPlayer">Rainer Kempe</span></b>, and <b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/santhosh-suvarna/" class="pokerPlayer">Santhosh Suvarna</span></b>.</p>
<p>The previous largest Triton Poker field had 305 entrants in a March 2024 $25,000 buy-in event. The Jeju series runs until March 15 and features 20 high roller events, two of which cost $100,000 or more to enter.</p>

<p>The poker world received sad news on Thursday when word spread that <span data-player-url="/poker-players/graeme-putt/" class="pokerPlayer">Graeme &#x201C;Kiwi&#x201D; Putt</span> passed away. Though he hailed from New Zealand, Putt was well-known throughout the Asia-Pacific region, particularly in Australia. A cause of death has not been revealed.</p>
<p>&#x201C;Sad to hear we lost Graeme Putt today, one of the nicest old guard poker players in Australia and a deserved Hall of Famer,&#x201D; wrote Australian poker pro <span data-player-url="/poker-players/oliver-gill/" class="pokerPlayer">Oliver Gill</span>. &#x201C;Had the best stories about playing in the cane fields in the 70s with farmers at high stakes. Always enjoyed having him at the table.&#x201D;</p>
<p>Putt had $866,744 in lifetime tournament earnings dating back to 1994 according to The Hendon Mob, which places him 10th on New Zealand&#x2019;s all-time money list. His career-high score of $49,455 came when he placed fifth in the 2004 Gaming Club World Poker Championship &#x20AC;6,000 Grand Final in Dublin, Ireland. Putt&#x2019;s last cash came in May 2024 when he finished fourth in the APT Gold Coast Championships AUD$350 H.E.R.O.S. tournament. </p>
<p>In 2013, Putt came close to winning a World Series of Poker (WSOP) gold bracelet when he placed sixth in the WSOP APAC Event #1: AUD$1,100 NLH Accumulator, good for AUD$41,610, and also third in Event #3: AUD$2,200 Mixed 8-Game for AUD$22,427.</p>

<p>Known as &#x201C;the most seasoned road gambler in Australia,&#x201D; Putt was inducted into the Australian Poker Hall of Fame in 2014.</p>
<p>Founded in 2009 by Maurie Pears, the Australian Poker Hall of Fame formally recognizes the accomplishments of poker players and professionals in the poker industry, from Australia and New Zealand. </p>

<p>The WPT League shared on social media: </p>
<p>&#x201C;We are sad to hear that Graeme Putt has passed away. He was a true icon in the poker community, a seasoned road gambler with an incredible track record both in Australia and around the world. His skills at the table were matched by his kindness and legendary storytelling and always ready with an entertaining anecdote. He will be deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure of playing alongside him. Rest in peace, Graeme.&#x201D;</p>

<p>On Day 2 of the event, a man entered the tournament area during a break and started flipping tables, damaging property and scattering chips. The man turned three tables over before being subdued.</p>
<p>After just a couple of hours in which they carefully reviewed the security footage and took counts from the players, the team at Harrah&#8217;s was able to reconstruct the overturned stacks and the tournament got back on track.</p>
<p>This ended up working out for <b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/florian-pesce/" class="pokerPlayer">Florian Pesce</span></b>. The French player went on to win the Main Event despite the disturbance.</p>
<h2 id="main-event-action">Main Event Action</h2>

<p>The duplicate Day 1 flights of the Main Event closed with a total of 1,710 entry tickets punched. That is a 33% bump over the 1,288 players who entered the previous edition of this event in December 2024.</p>
<p>The high turnout meant a big prize pool ($2,590,650) and a big first-place prize ($368,380).</p>
<p>Pesce started Day 2 at joint 12th in the chip counts with 188 players left in the field. By the end of the day &#x2014; after the tables had been righted and stacks restored &#x2014; only 18 players remained and Pesce was still falling shy of the top ten.</p>
<p>Day 3 saw things turn around for Pesce. As tough players like <b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/michael-hunsucker/" class="pokerPlayer">Michael Hunsucker</span></b> and <b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/matthew-davis/" class="pokerPlayer">Matthew Davis</span></b> busted out, Pesce accrued chips.</p>
<p>Pesce eventually found himself heads up with a local player, <b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/jarrett-mullins/" class="pokerPlayer">Jarrett Mullins</span></b> from Yadkinville, North Carolina. Mullins put on a good show, but he started heads up play with a 5-to-1 chip disadvantage from which he never recovered.</p>
<p>The chips finally went in with Pesce holding the <b class="k qh">Q<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2665.png" alt="♥" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b><b class="k 10h">10<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2665.png" alt="♥" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b> and Mullins the <b class="k ah">A<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2665.png" alt="♥" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b><b class="k 8s">8<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2660.png" alt="♠" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b>. <p><b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/doug-polk/" class="pokerPlayer">Doug Polk</span></b> has another online poker challenge planned, this one on <a href="https://www.pokernews.com/news/2024/12/clubwpt-gold-freeroll-invitational-final-table-47585.htm">ClubWPT Gold</a>, a new social poker site that is, at the very least, entertaining the poker community on X.</p>
<p>The heads-up poker legend and co-owner of <a href="https://www.pokernews.com/poker-rooms/lodge-texas-austin.htm">The Lodge Card Club</a> near Austin, Texas is setting out to win $100,000 playing online poker in a month. Per his tweet, he will begin the challenge March 3, and livestream the action throughout on his <a href="https://www.youtube.com/@DougPolkPoker" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">YouTube channel</a>, where he has 420,000 subscribers.</p>
<p>Polk&#8217;s purpose, which he explained in a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWh0vgptZUI" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">YouTube video</a>, is to show the poker world &#8220;the dream is still alive,&#8221; referring to skilled players being able to win online without cheating. The increased presence of <a href="https://www.pokernews.com/news/2025/02/poker-fans-slam-acr-ebony-kenney-48013.htm">real-time assistance (RTA) tools</a>, ghosting, and collusion has scared some players away from playing poker online in recent years. But the high-stakes player appears to be convinced the dream isn&#8217;t dead.</p>
<h2 id="newest-online-poker">Newest Online Poker Challenge</h2>
<p>As with any online poker challenge Polk is involved with, there&#8217;s going to be a giveaway. The three-time <a href="https://www.pokernews.com/tours/wsop/">World Series of Poker (WSOP)</a> bracelet winner will give back every cent of his profits during the &#8220;Code Doug&#8221; challenge to those who sign-up on ClubWPT Gold and use the code &#8220;DOUG.&#8221;</p>
<p>ClubWPT Gold is a social poker site available in the United States in partnership with the <a href="https://www.pokernews.com/tours/wpt/">World Poker Tour (WPT)</a>. The site launched in beta form late last year and made headlines in December with its record-setting $5 million guaranteed <a href="https://www.pokernews.com/news/2024/09/world-poker-tour-hosts-massive-freeroll-47011.htm">ClubWPT Gold Invitational Freeroll</a> during the WPT World Championship festival at <a href="https://www.pokernews.com/poker-rooms/wynn-las-vegas.htm">Wynn Las Vegas</a>.</p>
<p>The platform uses a sweepstakes model similar to that of <a href="https://www.pokernews.com/free-online-games/global-poker/">Global Poker</a>, and is legal in the US. Players do not purchase traditional chips with money. They instead sign-up and play for free using Gold Coins (GC) or purchase Sweeps Coins (SC), which players can turn into real money prizes.</p>
<p>Polk told <i>PokerNews</i> he will exclusively play ring games during the &#8220;Code Doug&#8221; challenge, specifically no-limit hold&#8217;em.</p>
<p>The Upswing Poker founder is no stranger to online poker challenges. He took on a $100 to $10,000 bankroll challenge in 2018, which he <a href="https://www.pokernews.com/news/2018/08/doug-polk-completes-100-to-10k-bankroll-challenge-31886.htm">successfully completed</a>, but it took him quite some time to get it done. Polk, a heads-up specialist, also beat his former rival <b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/daniel-negreanu/" class="pokerPlayer">Daniel Negreanu</span></b> for $1.2 million across <a href="https://www.pokernews.com/news/2021/02/doug-polk-finishes-up-against-daniel-negreanu-38619.htm">25,000 hands</a> four years ago.</p>
<p>ClubWPT Gold has been generating attention recently due to its ruthless X account (probably, almost certainly run by Polk&#8217;s talented video editor Thomas Keeling). The account does not hold back in poking fun at just about anyone or any company in the poker community, <a href="https://x.com/ClubWPTGold/status/1894568067943804933" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">including vloggers</a>.</p>

<p><b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/alan-keating/" class="pokerPlayer">Alan Keating</span></b> made one of the best televised poker calls seen in a while during Monday&#8217;s episode of <i>High Stakes Poker</i>, and it was one of many monster pots in the nosebleed-stakes cash game.</p>
<p>The sixth episode of Season 14 provided action from start to finish, and it kind-of-sort-of included the largest pot in <i>High Stakes Poker</i> history (more on this later), and a $910,000 hand Keating took down when he sniffed out a bluff.</p>
<p>Keating, a <i>Hustler Casino Live</i> fan favorite, competed against some fellow HCL players such as the show&#8217;s owner <b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/ryan-feldman/" class="pokerPlayer">Ryan Feldman</span></b> and the following list of players, with chip counts prior to the first hand.</p>

Vinny, who replaced <b>Marc Kulick</b> in the game, called with <b class="k ac">A<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2663.png" alt="♣" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b><b class="k qs">Q<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2660.png" alt="♠" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b> from the small blind. <p>Three players would check the <b class="k 10h">10<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2665.png" alt="♥" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b><b class="k 3c">3<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2663.png" alt="♣" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b><b class="k 7c">7<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2663.png" alt="♣" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b> flop back to Peter, who had the best hand. He continued with a $7,000 bet, receiving calls from Vinny and David. Steve, who won the <a href="https://www.pokernews.com/news/2024/05/mystery-poker-player-hustler-casino-live-46143.htm">$540,000 pot</a> last year on <i>Hustler Casino Live</i> that was botched by embattled attorney <b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/tom-goldstein/" class="pokerPlayer">Tom Goldstein</span></b>, folded.</p>

Action again checked to Peter, who fired out a big bet of $31,000, enough to get Vinny to fold ace-high, but David still felt his pair was good. The board paired on the <b class="k 10s">10<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2660.png" alt="♠" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b> river and David this time led with a $40,000. Peter initially considered his opponent rivered trips, but he found the call and took down the $175,400 pot on the first hand of Episode 6.</p>
<h2 id="keating-makes-insane">Keating Makes Insane Hero Call</h2>

<p>One of the best calls ever made on <i>High Stakes Poker</i> would occur during Episode 6. The hand we&#8217;re referring to started with Steve raising to $1,400 with <b class="k 8s">8<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2660.png" alt="♠" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b><b class="k 6c">6<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2663.png" alt="♣" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b>. Peter, on the button with <b class="k 6s">6<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2660.png" alt="♠" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b><b class="k 3s">3<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2660.png" alt="♠" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b>, called, as did Keating, who had <b class="k 9d">9<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2666.png" alt="♦" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b><b class="k 7d">7<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2666.png" alt="♦" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b> in the big blind.</p>
<p>The <b class="k ac">A<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2663.png" alt="♣" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b><b class="k 7s">7<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2660.png" alt="♠" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b><b class="k ks">K<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2660.png" alt="♠" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b> flop gave two players a little something. Keating checked, and then Steve, who flopped nothing, bet $4,000. Peter went for a raise to $13,000 with a flush draw. Keating, who only hit bottom pair, re-raised to $41,000, receiving a call only from Peter.</p>
<p>Action continued to heat up on the <b class="k 6h">6<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2665.png" alt="♥" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b> turn, which improved Peter&#8217;s hand. Keating fired out a bet of $58,000, and his opponent clicked back a raise to $175,000, but didn&#8217;t get Keating to fold.</p>
<p>The <b class="k 4h">4<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2665.png" alt="♥" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b> on the river didn&#8217;t improve either hand. Both players were stuck on small pairs with no cards left to come. Keating checked and then faced an all in bet of $235,000. He went into the tank facing a difficult decision, and he&#8217;d make the correct one by calling the bet to take down the $911,000 pot, one of the largest in <i>High Stakes Poker</i> history.</p>
<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s my favorite hand because neither of us have much, but we made a game of chicken out of it by putting pressure on each other and no one backed down,&#8221; Keating told <i>PokerNews</i>.</p>
<p><b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/nick-schulman/" class="pokerPlayer">Nick Schulman</span></b>, the commentator on <i>High Stakes Poker</i> and a five-time <a href="https://www.pokernews.com/tours/wsop/">World Series of Poker (WSOP)</a> bracelet winner, referred to it as &#8220;one of the coolest hands I&#8217;ve ever seen.&#8221; </p>
<p>As for the largest pot in <i>High Stakes Poker</i> history, that went to <b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/santhosh-suvarna/" class="pokerPlayer">Santhosh Suvarna</span></b> for $992,000 <a href="https://www.pokernews.com/news/2024/04/high-stakes-poker-season-12-episode-9-45840.htm">during Season 13</a>.</p>

<p>Suvarna&#8217;s record came to an end during Episode 6, kind of. It all depends on if you count a chop pot that cracked $1 million. This hand began with Peter raising to $4,000 with <b class="k as">A<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2660.png" alt="♠" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b><b class="k qd">Q<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2666.png" alt="♦" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b> and then Keating making it $25,000 to go with <b class="k ad">A<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2666.png" alt="♦" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b><b class="k qs">Q<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2660.png" alt="♠" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b>, the same hand but different suits.</p>
<p>Peter called before both players hit trips with the same kicker on the <b class="k qc">Q<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2663.png" alt="♣" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b><b class="k kd">K<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2666.png" alt="♦" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b><b class="k qh">Q<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2665.png" alt="♥" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b> flop. Keating continued his aggression with a $35,000 wager, and his opponent called before the <b class="k 8h">8<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2665.png" alt="♥" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b> appeared on the turn. Keating bet $79,000 this time. Peter, looking to get his chips back from the monster pot he lost earlier, raised to $229,000.</p>
<p>Keating then went all in for $499,000, and a snap-call was made. They would chop up the $1,120,200 pot, which likely won&#8217;t be considered as the biggest in the show&#8217;s history by most given the pot was chopped.</p>

<p>Feldman, outside of one huge pot he won during <a href="https://www.pokernews.com/news/2024/04/high-stakes-poker-season-12-episode-9-45840.htm">Episode 5</a>, has run poorly on <i>High Stakes Poker</i> <a href="https://www.pokernews.com/news/2025/01/high-stakes-poker-season-14-preview-47732.htm">Season 14</a>. That continued in the final hand of the newest episode.</p>
<p>Preflop action in the straddled pot began with Peter limping on the button with <b class="k kd">K<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2666.png" alt="♦" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b><b class="k 7d">7<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2666.png" alt="♦" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b>. Keating, the blind, raised to $14,000 with <b class="k ad">A<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2666.png" alt="♦" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b><b class="k ac">A<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2663.png" alt="♣" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b>. Feldman, in the staddle with <b class="k jd">J<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2666.png" alt="♦" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b><b class="k 9c">9<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2663.png" alt="♣" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b>, made the call, as did Peter.</p>
<p>The flop came out <b class="k jh">J<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2665.png" alt="♥" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b><b class="k kc">K<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2663.png" alt="♣" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b><b class="k 9d">9<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2666.png" alt="♦" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b>, and Keating wagered $28,000 with his pocket aces that had been out-flopped. Feldman, sitting on bottom two pair, just called. Peter came along as well and then sucked out on both players when the <b class="k ks">K<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2660.png" alt="♠" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b> landed on the turn.</p>
<p>Action would check to the button, who bet $85,000. Keating called, while Feldman frustratingly folded drawing dead. The river was the <b class="k qh">Q<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2665.png" alt="♥" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b>, which brought about four cards to a straight. Both players feared the straight and checked, which meant Peter took down the $297,400 pot to end the show.</p>

<p>The <a href="https://www.pokernews.com/tours/wsop-circuit/">World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC)</a> Main Event at Harrah&#8217;s Cherokee erupted into chaos on Sunday as a man flipped over three poker tables in an apparent fit of rage. </p>
<p>The incident took place on Day 2 of the $1,700 buy-in Main Event with 65 players left. A video posted to X by four-time Circuit ring winner <b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/david-moses/" class="pokerPlayer">David Moses</span></b> shows several tables overturned inside the Harrah&#8217;s ballroom with players looking on in disbelief. </p>
<p>&#8220;Somebody&#8217;s banned for life,&#8221; Moses says in the video. </p>
<p>The individual has not yet been identified, despite speculation in the above video and on social media. </p>
<h2 id="wild-incident-at-pok">Wild Incident at Poker Table</h2>
<p>Security escorted the man out of the tournament area. One player at the event said the man was shouting that god told him to do it, according to a player in attendance who spoke with <i>PokerNews</i>.</p>
<p>The Main Event went on an extended pause while staff reacted to the situation. Moses wrote on X that the two scenarios as he saw them would be to &#8220;reconstruct stacks such that &#8230; everyone agrees that&#8217;s ballpark what they had AND the cameras confirm ballpark what they had&#8221; or the 65 player remaining players agree to an even chop.</p>
<p>Additional video shared by World Poker Tour (WPT) Executive Tournament Director <span data-player-url="/poker-players/matt-savage/" class="pokerPlayer">Matt Savage</span> shows a player with long dark hair lifting and flipping a table before being held on the ground by several players. </p>
<p>&#8220;Get off of me! I&#8217;m not hurting anyone!&#8221; the man yells.</p>
<p>Savage called the incident a &#8220;tournament directors biggest nightmare&#8221; and a &#8220;long arduous process&#8221; requiring player&#8217;s &#8220;honesty, patience, and assistance.&#8221;</p>
<p>Harrah&#8217;s Cherokee is one of the top WSOP Circuit destinations. The <a href="https://www.pokernews.com/news/2025/01/wsopc-harrahs-cherokee-preview-47853.htm">current 18-ring series</a> began Feb. 13 and runs through Feb. 24 in Cherokee, North Carolina.</p>

<p>The no-limit hold&#8217;em cash game, played at $100/$200 stakes, aired on PokerGO. Bellande, who has been a regular in various poker shows and streams for the past 20 years, quickly made his presence felt at the table.</p>
<p>Venetian&#8217;s <a href="https://www.pokernews.com/news/2024/08/venetian-poker-room-review-las-vegas-46690.htm">new poker room</a> opened last fall in the Grand Canal Shoppes (previously on the casino floor). The popular Las Vegas card room now has a livestream that is already bringing in some of the biggest names in the game, such as JRB.</p>
<h2 id="big-pot-for-poker-le">Big Pot for Poker Legend</h2>

<p>The action in the game picked up early. Not only were the standard pots large, but the competitors had some side action going on at times during the five-hour stream with the squid game, bomb pots, and straddles in play.</p>
<p>Bellande, a <a href="https://www.pokernews.com/tours/wsop/">World Series of Poker (WSOP)</a> bracelet winner and longtime high-stakes cash game grinder, found a big hand and got maximum value.</p>
<p>The bomb pot hand with seven players and $3,500 automatically in the pot saw a flop of <b class="k js">J<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2660.png" alt="♠" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b><b class="k 2d">2<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2666.png" alt="♦" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b><b class="k 10s">10<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2660.png" alt="♠" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b>. Action checked to <b>Charles Yu</b>, a regular on <i><a href="https://www.pokernews.com/news/2023/11/martin-kabrhel-hustler-casino-live-poker-44976.htm">Hustler Casino Live</a></i>, who bet $1,500 with <b class="k jc">J<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2663.png" alt="♣" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b><b class="k 3d">3<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2666.png" alt="♦" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b>. </p>
<p>&#8220;Ace,&#8221; holding <b class="k as">A<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2660.png" alt="♠" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b><b class="k 10d">10<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2666.png" alt="♦" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b>, raised to $4,000. Bellande, sitting on <b class="k qc">Q<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2663.png" alt="♣" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b><b class="k jd">J<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2666.png" alt="♦" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b>, called, as did Yu, while everyone else folded.</p>
<p>The turn was the <b class="k jh">J<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2665.png" alt="♥" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b>, giving two players trips. But after Yu checked, Ace bet $8,000 drawing dead. Bellande, who had the best hand, just called. Charles then check-raised to $25,000, which convinced Ace to give it up and fold. That bet wasn&#8217;t going to force JRB off the hand, however. Instead, he moved all in for $45,900 total.</p>
<p>Despite having trips, Yu was in a tough spot with a weak kicker, especially in a bomb pot hand. But he was unable to find the fold and made the call drawing to just three outs to win, or six outs for a chop. Both players agreed to run the river twice, and neither the <b class="k 6h">6<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2665.png" alt="♥" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b> or <b class="k qs">Q<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2660.png" alt="♠" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b> changed the outcome.</p>
<p>Bellande scooped the entire $115,300 pot, the largest of the night. He&#8217;ll be back next Friday for <i>Venetian Poker Live&#8217;s</i> second high-stakes cash game stream.</p>

<p>Back in 2008, a poker book was published with little to no fanfare. <b><i>Confessions of a Crossroad Gambler</i></b> was written by <b>&#x201C;Gentleman&#x201D; Jack Newton</b>, a high-stakes gambler from the post-depression era through the birth of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the 1970s.</p>
<p>The book was filled with gambling history (including stories about <span data-player-url="/poker-players/jack-binion/" class="pokerPlayer">Jack Binion</span>, <span data-player-url="/poker-players/doyle-brunson/" class="pokerPlayer">Doyle Brunson</span>, and Billy Walters), marked cards, and other tales of cheating. It was quite an entertaining read, which is why renowned poker agent <b>Brian Balsbaugh of Poker Royalty</b> purchased the rights to the book and released an audio version narrated by one of the most popular poker players in the world.</p>
<p>Here&#x2019;s how the book is described:</p>
<blockquote readability="20">
<p>Gentleman Jack Newton: Confessions of a Crossroad Gambler is an autobiography by Jack Newton, a legendary high-stakes gambler, narrated by seven-time WSOP bracelet winner and Poker Hall of Famer <span data-player-url="/poker-players/daniel-negreanu/" class="pokerPlayer">Daniel Negreanu</span>. Jack recounts his life on the road from the Depression era through the 1970s, detailing his adventures in card games across America. </p>
<p>The book offers a glimpse into the world of &#8220;crossroad gamblers,&#8221; where both skill and cunning were used to win. Expect tales of card counting, spotting cheaters, and perhaps some less savory tactics Jack employed to emerge victorious. With Negreanu&#8217;s narration, you&#8217;ll get a unique perspective from another poker great on Jack&#8217;s exploits and the high-stakes gambling world.</p>
</blockquote>
<p>The audiobook, which was released back on July 17, 2024, is a quick listen at just 2 hours and 49 minutes,</p>
<p>&#x201C;I&#8217;m a sucker for old-school Vegas stories and the book was a really fun read, so when I was asked to narrate it I didn&#8217;t hesitate,&#x201D; Negreanu told PokerNews when asked what appealed to him about doing the book. &#x201C;I&#x2019;d never narrated a book before, and it was easy. They came to the house and we did it in 3-4 hour blocks over a couple of days.&#x201D;</p>
<figure class="lazyContainer center" data-dimensions="1600x1067"><span></span><img decoding="async" class="content-img" loading="lazy" src="https://pnimg.net/w/articles-attachments/1/67b/79e31f37fa.jpg" alt="Daniel Negreanu"><figcaption>Daniel Negreanu at the WSOP Paradise.</figcaption></figure>
<p>While Negreanu never got the opportunity to meet Newton, he crossed paths with his son, who was involved in the project.</p>
<p>&#x201C;I met his son who sat in on the recordings for a little while,&#x201D; said Negreanu, who also shared a Newton story that stuck out. &#x201C;I think my favorite story, and I won&#8217;t spoil how he does it, but he finds a game that is being cheated and has to figure out how to get his marked cards into the game. The way he does it is brilliant!&#x201D;</p>
<figure class="lazyContainer right" data-dimensions="278x418"><span></span><img decoding="async" class="content-img" loading="lazy" src="https://pnimg.net/w/articles-attachments/1/67b/79eaf8eddb.png" alt="r"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>
<p>The book may glamorize less scrupulous ways of winning in poker, it is important to remember that Newton lived and played at a very different time.</p>
<p>&#x201C;You find in the book a code among cheats, where after a score, they may even reveal how they cheated their opponent over a beer,&#x201D; Negreanu offered. &#x201C;In some cases, both sides were cheating, so there was respect for the guy who did it better- but not always.&#x201D;</p>
<p>While Negreanu did the narration for <i>Confessions of a Crossroad Gambler</i>, it has been nearly two decades since he released his own book, <i><a href="https://www.pokernews.com/books/power-hold-em-strategy.htm">Power Hold&#x2019;em Strategy</a></i>, in 2008, and the year before that Hold&#x2019;em Wisdom for All Players. So, might a third book, a biography perhaps, be int he works for Kid Poker?</p>
<p>&#x201C;Too young for that,&#x201D; was all Negreanu had to say when asked.</p>
<p>Hard copies of <i>Confessions of a Crossroad Gambler</i> can be found online, but for those wanting to listen to Negreanu&#x2019;s narration, you can <a href="https://www.audible.com/pd/Confessions-of-a-Crossroad-Gambler-Audiobook/B0D9KW97TT" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">check it out on Audible now for just $6.95</a>. What&#x2019;s more, Prime members can get two free audiobooks during a trial subscription.</p>

But <b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/joey-weissman/" class="pokerPlayer">Joey Weissman</span></b>, who finished in second place, was the star of the series.</p>
<p>Weissman began the series last week by losing heads-up to <b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/michael-moncek/" class="pokerPlayer">Michael Moncek</span></b> in the first event and then <a href="https://www.pokernews.com/news/2025/02/same-poker-players-heads-up-again-47946.htm">getting revenge against the same player</a> heads-up in Event #2. His run was far from over as he&#8217;d book two additional second place finishes, marking one of the best series performances in <a href="https://www.pokernews.com/tours/pokergo-tour/">PokerGO Tour</a> history.</p>
<p>There wasn&#8217;t any suspense at the final table as to who was going to win the PokerGO Cup as Weissman, who finished with 758 points, already had that locked up. But <b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/eric-blair/" class="pokerPlayer">Eric Blair</span></b> (568 points) and Moncek (484 points) both won multiple events. Weissman also took over the 2025 PGT leaderboard, holding a slight lead over <b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/kristen-bicknell/" class="pokerPlayer">Kristen Foxen</span></b>.</p>

<p>Seven players out of the 59 entrants in the series finale returned to the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas for Day 2 on Thursday. Weissman held the chip lead but it was a tight race against a few other players, including Zaki and <b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/sam-soverel/" class="pokerPlayer">Sam Soverel</span></b>.</p>
<p><b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/jesse-lonis/" class="pokerPlayer">Jesse Lonis</span></b>, a small stack, quickly busted in seventh place ($59,000) when he lost a 60/40 to Clemen Deng. <b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/michael-berk/" class="pokerPlayer">Michael Berk</span></b> wasn&#8217;t fortunate enough to have his <b class="k ax">A<i>x</i></b><b class="k qx">Q<i>x</i></b> hold up against the <b class="k kx">K<i>x</i></b><b class="k 3x">3<i>x</i></b> <b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/christian-roberts/" class="pokerPlayer">Christian Roberts</span></b> had in the hole. <p>Weissman would begin to slowly chip up and pull away from the rest of the table. But then Roberts tried to bluff into Zaki&#8217;s straight, and that created a tighter race at the top of the chip counts.</p>
<p>Zaki took over the chip lead as the beneficiary of Roberts nearly doubling through Weissman on a cooler flop. He&#8217;d begin to pull further ahead after winning an all-in bet with <b class="k jx">J<i>x</i></b><b class="k 10x">10<i>x</i></b> against <b class="k ax">A<i>x</i></b><b class="k qx">Q<i>x</i></b>. Roberts had the worst of it and was eliminated in fifth place ($110,625).</p>
<p>Weissman then coolered Soverel with pocket aces against pocket queens, sending the latter player home in fourth place ($147,500). Deng was Weissman&#8217;s final victim in third place ($206,500). That led to heads-up play beginning with Zaki out in front, but not by much.</p>
<p>Both players chasing that final 2025 PokerGO Cup title agreed to a heads-up deal with the winner to receive $417,000 and the runner-up getting $350,000. Weissman quickly jumped ahead before Zaki went all in with <b class="k ah">A<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2665.png" alt="♥" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b><b class="k 10d">10<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2666.png" alt="♦" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b> and was snap-called by <b class="k 10h">10<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2665.png" alt="♥" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b><b class="k 10c">10<i><img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/15.0.3/72x72/2663.png" alt="♣" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></i></b>. <p>The <a href="https://www.pokernews.com/news/2025/01/grizzly-games-viii-47819.htm">Global Poker Grizzly Games VIII</a> series was a rousing success on the US-facing social poker site. But for some players, namely the Gold Coin (GC) and Sweeps Coin (SC) champions and overall series winners, it was an even bigger success.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.pokernews.com/free-online-games/global-poker/">Global Poker</a> hosted the massive series from Jan. 27 to Feb. 16, with multiple tournaments taking place each day from start to finish. The event was part of the 2024-2025 Global Poker Championship (GPC) season.</p>
<p>We <a href="https://www.pokernews.com/news/2025/02/global-poker-grizzly-games-update-47883.htm">last reported on the Grizzly Games series</a> right in the middle. The biggest events were still to come.</p>
<h2 id="multiple-big-winners">Multiple Big Winners</h2>
<p>There were a number of big winners during the recently completed online poker series. But two individuals stand-out ahead of the rest. The first one is &#8220;FlushMe2Tears,&#8221; who conquered the Gold Coin leaderboard, and the other is &#8220;viztyskie,&#8221; overall winner on the Sweeps Coin side.</p>
<p>Starting with the Gold Coin leaderboard, the first place finisher reached 10 final tables, an impressive performance alone. But the reason this individual won the series is because they shipped four tournaments, quite a heater. Two players &#x2014; &#8220;KazRich&#8221; and &#8220;messeyjesse&#8221; &#x2014; reached 15 final tables, and equally impressive accomplishment. Beyond winning Gold Coins and trophy&#8217;s, many players received some stylish Global Poker swag.</p>

<p>Over on the Sweeps Coin side, six players won multiple events during the Grizzly Games series. All players in the top 10 of the leaderboard won at least one trophy. But they all played second fiddle to &#8220;viztyskie&#8221; who conquered two events and reached five final tables.</p>
<p>&#8220;BUYMEDINNER&#8221; finished in second place with three final tables and two tournament wins, while &#8220;Packers2010&#8221; also came close to the overall crown with three final table appearances and two titles.</p>
<p><b><span data-player-url="/poker-players/kyle-a-anderson/" class="pokerPlayer">Kyle Anderson</span></b>, a <i>PokerNews</i> ambassador who streams on Global Poker, had a strong series and capped off a nearly nine-hour streaming session by winning the SC 33 Shootout Heads-Up turbo event for SC 2,044. The win-your-table-to-advance no-limit hold&#8217;em format had 284 entries.</p>
