Pragmatic Play Grows Regulated iGaming Footing with New Greek License

Latest News

Leading online casino games supplier Pragmatic Play has recently celebrated another important achievement as part of its international expansion effort.

The company has obtained a Type A1 supplier license from the Hellenic Gaming Commission that has enabled it to team up with Greek-licensed iGaming operators and provide its online slots and live casino products to local players.

Greece’s new online gambling regulations were introduced on August 1 following a comprehensive reorganization process undertaken by the nation’s government and competent regulators. Ahead of the opening of the local iGaming space for regulated activities, the Hellenic Gaming Commission launched a license application process for interested operators and content providers in the fall of 2020.

The agency began issuing licenses to the approved applicants earlier this year. Pragmatic Play is the latest major B2B company to announced that it has secured regulatory approval to offer its products in the Greek market, joining the likes of Wazdan, Yggdrasil, and Red Rake Gaming, among many others.

The newly issued license will help Pragmatic Play strengthen its position in Greece where it was previously offering its titles under the country’s old regulatory regime and through supply partnerships with Kaizen Gaming and Novibet.

The company will likely announce more partnerships in the coming months as it looks to further expand in this lucrative, newly reorganized iGaming market.

A Crucial Step

Of their Greek license, Pragmatic Play Director of Compliance Sheriff Khamoura said that they are thrilled to take a crucial step into the local market and that it marks a great opportunity to continue to deliver their expanding product offering to Greek operators.

Thanks to the new license, Pragmatic Play will be able to provide local players with access to hit titles like Fruit Party 2, Sweet Bonanza, and Wolf Gold as well as to new releases such as YumYum Powerways and Chilli Heat Megaways.

The license also authorizes the company to offer its growing live casino range.

Pragmatic Play currently rolls out up to five new online slots on a monthly base. It also regularly releases new live casino and bingo titles as part of its multi-product portfolio. All of the company’s products are available via a single API integration.

The provider recently expanded its presence in several other important European markets through partnerships with locally licensed operators.

Earlier this week, it announced that it has extended its existing alliance with Planetwin365, an Italy-facing brand managed by gambling group SKS365. Under the terms of that new deal, Pragmatic Play will provide the operator with access to its live casino range. Planetwin365 already offers the supplier’s online slots.

It was also not long ago when Pragmatic Play secured greater German foothold through a content supply deal with StarGames, the Germany-focused B2C brand of online gaming content provider Greentube.
