Now, through March 14th, you can get 1 Chase Southwest credit card (there are 3 different ones), complete the $5000 spend in 3 months and you not only earn a 30,000 RR mile sigh up bonus, you also get companion fare until 2/28/23.
Now, $5000 is a little higher spent that usual but the benefits are significant. After you complete the spend, it will take a little while to get your points and companion fare. Let’s say it all gets done by May 1st. You now have 9 months of companion fare at least 35,000 RR points (minimum of 1 point per dollar spent). With a little bit of shopping, you should be able to get at least 1 round trip flight in the US for 2 people.
RR points are worth 1.5 – 1.8 cents each. Taking the lower value, you are getting $525 in airfare value from the point plus you get another $525 in value for your companion ( assuming you can use the companion fare). So, I conservatively value the miles earned at $1050.
The annual fees are between $69 and $149 and you get RR miles on your anniversary. Even if you do a one year and done, you pay $69 to $149 to get $1050 in airfare. Pretty good deal.
I currently have a Chase SWA card. If you sign up through my referral, I will send you a check for half of the cash value of the referral bonus. Right now, the referral bonus is 10,000 RR miles. I would send you a check ( or PayPal) for $50.
