BetMGM launches $10M bracket challenge, new promotions ahead of March Madness

Industry

Sports betting and iGaming operator BetMGM has unveiled a $10 million bracket challenge for March Matchups, described by the business as its “largest ever.” The joint-venture between MGM and Entain, now live in 22 markets across North America, is launching the millionaire free-to-play challenge “along with other new ways” for users to engage during the tournament.

“March is one of the greatest times of the year for sports fans, and it’s a huge moment for us at BetMGM to reach more customers than ever before,” said BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt. “Our team created fun and interactive content to enhance the tournament experience for our players online and in-person regardless of whether or not their bracket has busted.”

The Perfect Bracket Challenge gives BetMGM mobile users the chance to win $10 million by predicting the perfect bracket for March Matchups of the NCAA tournament. The F2P contest is available in the mobile app to complete their entries.

If no one guesses a perfect bracket -for which the odds are slim- the player that accumulates the most points during the tournament will be rewarded with a $100,000 prize for the highest scoring bracket. The $100,000 prize will be shared if two or more people have the same bracket score.

Players can only enter once in the free-to-play bracket. Only the first bracket entry submission will be eligible. However, guests are able to edit their brackets right up until tip-off of the first March Madness game, which starts on Thursday, March 17.

Meanwhile, the Parlay Boost Token Every Day of March Matchups is a promotion by which all players, new and old, can earn a free Parlay Boost Token every day of the tournament. This allows guests to boost their best parlay bets of the day to earn additional winnings on their wagers.

Additionally, the operator is launching new customer promotions: guests utilizing BetMGM’s product for the first time will receive a $1,000 risk-free bet for March Matchups.

Lastly, and only in D.C., visitors at the BetMGM Sportsbook at Nationals Park will be able to partake in the Second Chance Promotion, which grants them the opportunity “to make any loss into a win.”

The D.C.-only promotion allows players to place losing ticket slips with their contact information into a drum at the sportsbook for a chance to win a variety of prizes, including a free $100 bet, tickets to a concert at MGM National Harbor, VIP seats at a Washington Nationals game, and more.

Earlier this month, BetMGM entered the Illinois online sports betting market after the state permanently eliminated the in-person registration requirement that was in place statewide, just in time for March Madness. Analysts believe the move could boost Illinois to a record $1 billion in legal sports bets this month.

The same day of the announcement, BetMGM launched mobile sports betting operations in the state, its 22nd market. BetMGM has become the online betting platform for Par-A-Dice Casino in East Peoria, which formerly used the FanDuel sports app.
