Supplier of online gaming software Bede Gaming has been an integral part of Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation’s growth since its transition to the platform in 2020, the company said on Thursday. The platform acted as an “essential facilitator” to the significant improvements experienced by the Canadian crown agency in its digital performance, with gaming revenue up by over 50%, according to the Gauselmann Group subsidiary.

“When we were selected as OLG’s new digital partner in 2018, the eyes of the world were upon us,” explains Alex Butcher, MD, Bede Gaming. “I am proud to say that we have proven the strength of our offering and the huge benefits lotteries can enjoy when partnering with a leading-edge platform provider. One which was created in and understands the digital age in which we now live.”

According to OLG, offering its customers an engaging and safe gaming environment is its priority. By moving to Bede, the software supplier played an integral role in creating significant advances in customer experience on digital and mobile gaming for the corporation, while maintaining high responsible gaming standards.

The speed with which OLG is now able to go to market with fresh product offerings has been notable since their move to Bede, with a steady stream of success stories announced over the preceding year,” the Gauselmann subsidiary says. These include welcoming a host of new content providers such as Blueprint Gaming, Everi, Evolution and AGS, to becoming the first operator to offer single-event sports wagering in Canada.

As the pandemic highlighted the importance of a strong digital strategy for lotteries across the worldwide gaming industry, with iGaming breaking records in engagement and profit, Bede showed “how these challenges can be answered through a strong digital partnership.” Since launching with Bede in October 2020, OLG’s active monthly players have grown by over 60%.

“We’re thrilled to be supporting OLG’s digital transformation and delight in their successes as the lottery and gaming organization continues to set itself apart from its competitors through a world-class customer experience,” added Butcher.

Among its offerings, Bede lists real-time information on customer activity, which allows lotteries to react quickly and to provide the right content “at the right time to the right person,” a vital asset in terms of customer acquisition and loyalty.

As well as having a focus on data analysis, the Bede platform prides itself on delivering “world-class features” in rapid third-party integration and responsible gaming tools, allowing for “an incomparable customer experience.” It provides a one-stop-shop solution, meaning lotteries can seamlessly connect their retail and digital experiences to enable smooth customer transition between the two channels.

“We strive to give our OLG.ca customers unparalleled choice and entertainment so it is vital to us that we provide Ontarians with the highest quality gaming experience in a safe online environment,” said Dave Pridmore, Chief Digital and Strategy Officer for OLG.

According to the executive, the transition to Bede’s data-rich platform was “integral” to OLG being able to provide this high-quality gaming experience to its customers, while also allowing the crown corporation to “continually improve our offering.”

The speed to market which we enjoy with Bede enables us to deliver outstanding content to Ontarians at the time they want it, giving us a significant competitor edge,” Pridmore added.

The Bede platform processes billions of transactions a year, Gauselmann Group explains. It defines it as “scalable, modular and adaptable,” permitting “a genuine omni-channel convergence solution” to operators. Its clients include gambling companies and lotteries across North America, Europe and Africa.

Headquartered in Newcastle upon Tyne, in the North East of England, UK, Bede is certified to ISO 27001. It is licensed by the UK Gambling Commission and is an approved supplier of the Alderney Gambling Control Commission.
