On Wednesday, May 25th, 2022 the superstar striker for AC Milan, Zlatan Ibrahimović, underwent surgery on his left knee in order to fully repair the joint. Ibrahimovic will be out of all professional football competitions for approximately 7 to 8 months.

This is good and bad news. The good news is that Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s knee will be pretty much back to normal, but the bad news is he will be out of all competitions for at least 7 to 8 months while he heals as well as rehabs his left knee. This operation should definitely prolong his professional football career too.

I can’t believe that Ibrahimovic is already 40 – years – old. He probably is pretty close to his retirement from playing football professionally, but with athletes like Tom Brady pushing the envelope on how old one can be and still compete at the highest level of the game that they play you never know how long a player is able to prolong their athletic career these days.

Ibrahimović was forced to miss a big – portion of AC Milan’s championship title – winning run this season due to his knee injury. The 40 – year – old Swedish – born football player made just 23 – appearances in the Italian Serie A League, but the majority of those appearances were coming off of the bench as a substitute as a reserve player for AC Milan.

The AC Milan organization explained that the knee surgery, which was performed in France, had been previously scheduled for a while in order, to definitively resolve the joint’s instability.”

The historic and legendary football club went on to say: The operation was a complete success and the prognosis is estimated between seven and eight months.”

Zlatan Ibrahimović will be 41 – years – old at that point, and he may be contemplating his retirement from playing football professionally.

After AC Milan clinched their 1st – Italian Serie A League championship title since the year of 2011 on last Sunday, May 22nd, 2022. Ibrahimović claimed he would only continue to play professional football if he felt well enough to do so, and he went on to say that it has been an extremely difficult last few months for him and his health.

His current contract with AC Milan expires this year as well.

Zlatan’s return at the start of 2020 marked a turn – around for AC Milan that saw the legendary as well as historic Rossoneri finish in 2nd – place last season which ended their 11 – year wait for the Italian Serie A League championship title this year.

Zlatan also helped AC Milan to the last of their Italian Serie A League championship titles in his first run with the football club.
