Novomatic announced Friday the appointment of Thomas Schmalzer as new Vice President of Global Sales. Schmalzer takes over from Jakob Rothwangl, and is set to “ensure a seamless transition” and the consistent pursuit of the company’s path.
In addition to his role as VP of Global Sales, Schmalzer will also maintain his previous area of responsibility as Vice President of Product Management.
Rothwangl started the strategic realignment of the Global Sales division in February 2021 and “transformed the sales organization and business model to be fit for a successful future,” the company stated in a press release.
He is now looking forward to a fresh challenge as regards “a new strategically important project” within the group, Novomatic noted. “I would like to thank my team at Global Sales and all colleagues at HQ as well as internationally, who have supported me in this endeavor for their excellent teamwork,” said Rothwangl.
In 2021, Thomas Schmalzer already led Global Sales on an interim basis for the duration of six months. He said: “I am happy to devote myself to the expanded area of responsibility with full commitment and will take on the development of product management as well as the expansion of the sales area with equal dedication and the best benefit for our customers worldwide.”
“I am particularly looking forward to returning to the great team of the Global Sales Division in order to jointly shape the future of NOVOMATIC and its valued customers,” he concluded.
Earlier this week, the company announced its plans for the G2E 2022 showcase in Las Vegas, where it will exhibit its “fresh and exciting” gaming highlights, as well as new hardware and solutions in booth #1259. The producer and operator of gaming technologies will also launch a new upright cabinet for the U.S. market.
President and CEO of Novomatic Americas Rick Meitzler explained that the company’s goal at this year’s event is to continue to increase its product performance in every category. “We want to demonstrate that we listen to our customers and we have maintained our good performance and grown our gaming footprint in progressives, commodity games, systems, and sports betting,” he noted.
