ClubWPT Sending Over 50 Players to Historic WPT World Championship Festival at Wynn

Poker News

The world’s largest guaranteed prize pool in history — $15 million WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas— will take place Dec. 12-20, and a number of the entrants in the field will have earned their way on ClubWPT.

Next month, the World Poker Tour is set to host one of the most epic poker festivals ever, and 56 ClubWPT members have already won special packages that could potentially translate into hundreds of thousands, or maybe even millions, of dollars. They’ll get to join PokerNews live reporter Liam Gannon, who won a Twitter contest for a tournament buy-in.

Big Events at Wynn in December

The $10,400 buy-in WPT World Championship at Wynn isn’t the only major event during the series in December, although it’s certainly the biggest and one of the most anticipated live poker tournaments ever. There are 23 total tournaments at Wynn from Dec. 1-20, the three biggest being promoted by the WPT brand.

On Dec. 8, and concluding four days later, the $1,100 WPT Prime Championship No-Limit Hold’em event has a $2 million guaranteed prize pool. From Dec. 16-18, the $1,100 WPT Ladies Championship No-Limit Hold’em has a $200,000 guaranteed pot, and then of course the historic WPT World Championship Dec. 12-20 will have — at a minimum — $15 million in the prize pool, and likely quite a bit more.

From ClubWPT to Riches?

When the series begins, 27 ClubWPT qualifiers will take place in the WPT World Championship, 22 more will play for riches in the WPT Prime Championship, and seven other members received special events packages for the Wynn series.

“Since launching in 2008, ClubWPT has been an amazing way to get players from all walks of life more involved in poker,” said WPT CEO Adam Pliska. “WPT World Championship packages are the most prestigious prizes we have ever awarded on ClubWPT, and we are proud to host qualifying players at our 20th-anniversary celebration.”

ClubWPT was the only online place where US players could qualify for the Championship events, and did so during qualifying tournaments on the subscription-based platform Nov. 13.

The seven special events winners have some exciting times up ahead. Five of those individuals will compete for a seat in the Tony Dunst WPT Battleship Bounty on Dec. 9, with the winner taking home a WPT World Championship seat. The other two winners will compete to see who will last longer when they sit down with WPT Ambassadors Phil Ivey, Andrew Neeme, Brad Owen, and WPT Anchor Lynn Gilmartin for the six-handed WPT Phil Ivey Home Game on Dec. 6.
