On Tuesday, January 17th, 2023 a man was charged for assaulting the goalkeeper of Arsenal, Aaron Ramsdale, following Arsenal’s match against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Man Charged with the Assault
The Metropolitan Police reasonably charged the 35 – year – old, Joseph Watts, with assault by beating according to Britain’s Press Association.
Court Date
Presently Joseph is now all set to appear at Highbury Magistrates’ Court in London, England on February 17th, 2023.
The Arsenal goalie in Ramsdale appeared to have been kicked in the back by a fan following him picking up a water bottle from in back of one of the goals following Arsenal’s 2 to 0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League last Sunday, January 15th, 2023.
The supporter was witnessed hopping over the railing and mounting an advertising hoarding prior to assaulting Aaron.
Ramsdale did not appear to be hurt, and Aaron was pulled away from the spot of the attack by his teammates as he was celebrating in front of the Arsenal fans at the adjacent side of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The Football Association has made it very clear that they strongly condemn the incident that occurred last weekend by this troublesome spectator.
“This is wholly unacceptable behavior,” the governing body stated, “and we will work together with the police, the relevant authorities and the clubs to ensure the appropriate action is taken.”
