Online gambling group Rootz has announced Lasse Rantala, CEO and co-founder, will be stepping into the role of Chair of the Board, passing the torch to Sam Brown, who joined the company one year ago as Chief Commercial Officer.

As Rantala transitions to Chair of the Board, he will leverage his insights and expertise to guide Rootz Ltd.’s initiatives and steer the company towards continued prosperity,” the company said in a press release.

Sam Brown, described by the firm as an accomplished executive with over 15 years of experience in various C-level positions within the iGaming industry, will assume the role of CEO. Prior to joining Rootz, he spent three years as CCO at Hero Gaming and had a spell as CEO at Rolla Services.

He also spent time as live casino director at NetEnt and held several senior roles at both Betsson and Betfair. His career in the industry began with Ladbrokes, where he had a spell as a casino marketing manager.

Brown has a proven track record of “transforming the fortunes of several iGaming organizations,” says Rootz, making him “a highly respected figure in the field.” His industry knowledge and expertise are expected to help solidify Rootz’s position as a significant player on the global iGaming stage.

“As I pass on the mantle of CEO to Sam, I am filled with immense pride and confidence,” stated Lasse Rantala. ”Sam’s commitment to excellence, strategic mindset, and passion for innovation make him the perfect fit to lead Rootz into its next chapter. I have full faith in his ability to steer our company to even greater heights, and the Board is fully dedicated to offering him unwavering support every step of the way.”

Sam Brown expressed enthusiasm for his new role, stating: “After an exciting first year at Rootz, my passion for the business has only grown stronger. We have a great vision for the future and have the people, technology, and ambition to deliver it. It’s an honor to be entrusted with the next phase of the Rootz journey.”

The change in leadership comes amid the company’s recent expansion into North America with a new license in Ontario. The firm has also recently entered into the German market.

Rootz is licensed and regulated by the Malta Gaming Authority, and operates multiple casino brands, including Wildz, Wheelz, Caxino, and the streaming brand Spinz, all running on the Rootz proprietary platform with a single account structure.
