George Milos has officially taken on the role of Executive Director for both the Deadwood Gaming Association (DGA) and Business Improvement District 8 (BID 8). Milos started his new role on May 15.

The DGA, established in 1990, is the primary non-profit organization advocating for South Dakota’s commercial casino sector. It acts as the representative body for the gaming industry, engaging with the legislature, the South Dakota Commission on Gaming, and the Deadwood City Commission.

Meanwhile, BID 8, which finances its activities through a hotel and motel occupancy tax, is dedicated to promoting Deadwood as a premier destination for visitors. The funds from this tax are used to support Main Street revitalization projects, improve recreational opportunities, and enhance the success of various events, in line with the DGA’s objectives.

Milos previously served as Director of Event Services for Deadwood Mountain Grand and spent 13 years with the Deadwood Chamber & Visitors Bureau, where he held the role of director for seven years. He has organized press junkets for major media outlets such as HBO, Country Music Television, ESPN, Showtime, and CBS Sports.

Additionally, his writings on Deadwood have been published in newspapers and magazines, including the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, USA Today, Denver Post, and Minneapolis Star Tribune.

George has developed a deep love for Deadwood, the gaming industry, and the visitor industry through his time at the Chamber and in private, commercial businesses. With his public and private business experience he will be a welcome addition to our DGA and BID 8 efforts,” said Caleb Arceneaux, President of the DGA and Chief Executive Officer of LIV Hospitality. “We look forward to his leadership in taking our organization to new levels of engagement and growth.”

Milos stated: “I am incredibly excited and humbled at the opportunity to represent an industry that provides so many good paying jobs with great benefits and has been a part of Deadwood’s fabric since the 1800’s. I look forward to working with the industry, creating, and cultivating events and being a part of Deadwood’s future. I’m ready to get to work!”
