First female president elected at ALEA’s 73rd assembly, new board of directors announced

The 73rd Ordinary Assembly of the Board of Legal Representatives of the Association of State Lotteries of Argentina (ALEA) concluded on May 15 in Salta with a landmark decision that saw Dr. Ida López elected as the Association’s first female President. Dr. López’s appointment is historic as she becomes the first woman to lead the Association in its nearly 54-year history.

This assembly, held in collaboration with the Gambling Regulatory Entity of Salta, gathered representatives from 23 jurisdictions to address pressing issues and elect the new Board of Directors for the 2024-2025 term.

The newly elected Board of Directors for 2024-2025 includes President – Dr. Ida López, Provincial Institute of Games and Casinos of Mendoza; Vice President – Dr. Gonzalo Atanasof, Provincial Institute of Lottery and Casinos of the Province of Buenos Aires; First Vice President – Daniel Di Lena, Social Assistance Fund of the Province of Santa Fe; Second Vice President – Luis María Aguirre, Institute of Social Assistance of Chubut; Secretary – Dr. Jesús Mariano Acevedo, Lottery of the City of Buenos Aires SE; Deputy Secretary – Dr. Javier Bee Selllares, Corrientes Lottery and Casino Institute; and Treasurer – CP. Diego Martínez Dome, Institute of Financial Aid to Social Action of Entre Ríos.

The Collegiate Audit Office is composed of María Eugenia Sosa Herrera – President of the Social and Financial Fund of the Province of San Luis, Juan Pablo Medina – President of the Social Action Fund of San Juan and Ramón Nicolás Vera – General Administrator of the General Administration of Gaming of La Rioja.

Active members who were not elected to specific positions will serve as general members.

One of the central topics discussed at the assembly was the issue of illegal online gambling. Members expressed concerns about the rise of unauthorized online gaming platforms and their negative impact, particularly on minors. To address this, the assembly decided to form a joint working group with national organizations and establish an online gaming observatory for continuous monitoring and action.

In addition to the discussions on illegal gambling, the assembly addressed several administrative matters, including the approval of the General Balance Sheet for Fiscal Year 2023 and the budget for 2024.

The assembly concluded with a vote of thanks to the ENREJA authorities and their team for their hospitality and support in hosting the ALEA community in Salta.
