Vegas Resort Fees Rise Again

Industry

Las Vegas resort fees are on the rise… again! It was just last year at this time when we reported a very similar story. Is the “Raising of the Fees” becoming an annual event? We hope not! Find out which Strip properties have hiked their prices, discover tips to avoid these extra charges, and learn which hotels let you skip the fees altogether.

Don’t look now, but here we go again. Resort fees have jumped at several popular Las Vegas properties all up and down the Strip, and they all have one thing in common. Yes, it just got more expensive to stay at these 13 Las Vegas hotels: Aria, Bellagio, Cosmopolitan , Excalibur , Luxor, Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand, New York-New York, Nomad, Park MGM, The Signature, Vdara, and The W. Some of the fees are now up to $55 a day. And if you’re looking at this list closely, you may have already noticed these are all MGM Resorts properties. But wait there’s more!

MGM made this exact same move last year in January about this exact same time… and not just with Resort fees, no no! They also jacked up parking fees at all of their resorts. So this year,
just keep things consistent, MGM is once again raising the prices for their self-parking and valet parking services! So, combined with the increase in Resort fees, guests will be paying just a bit more to stay at an MGM Resort than they did just last month.

This might have some of you wondering: How can we avoid paying these fees? Well I’m glad you ask that, because my friends, because there are a couple of ways you can avoid paying
Resort fees altogether! The first is to simply stay at a resort that doesn’t have them. And only one hotel on the Las Vegas trip has zero Resort Fees: Casino Royale!  There are also no fees at Marriott’s Grand Chateau behind Plantet Hollywood, the Desert Rose Resort near Oyo, and the Club Wyndham Grand Desert off East Harmon!

The second way you can avoid paying these fees altogether is to simply join their rewards program and then work your way to higher tiers (yeah yeah, I know… there’s always a catch, right?) MGM Resorts is kind enough to wave these fees once you achieve Gold status or higher, while Caesar’s Rewards does not charge Resort Fees  for their members who are Diamond status or above, and does not charge Parking Fees for Platinum, Diamond, or Seven Stars members. The Venetian and Palazzo, who are now part of the World of Hyatt, have no Resort Fees for their  top tier Globalist status. And no parking fees for Sapphire members and above.

But remember, these reward programs can also get you faster check-ins ,credits on food and game play, and even free upgrades! So that’s a wrap! And we hope you got a little something out of this because, like them or not, these fees are here to stay. It would take an act of Congress to get rid of them! Seriously! Go look it up! It would take an act of Congress!
