Netherlands’ watchdog sends cease-and-desist letter to MKC Limited; grants new license to operator Tulipa Ent

The Dutch Gaming Authority (Kansspelautoriteit, or KSA) continues to shape the country’s iGaming market after its launch in October 2021. This time, it has issued a warning to M.K.C. Limited to cease operations or else face a weekly penalty while, in the same week, it has also granted a license to Tulipa Ent, a Maltese affiliate of ComeOn Group

M.K.C. Limited, the operator of Betworld 247.com, has been requested to refrain from activity after it was found to have been operating in breach of the country’s gambling laws. Soon after, a cease-and-desist letter was issued to the company. KSA insists that the request must be complied with fully, or else the operator could face from EUR 28,000 to EUR 84,000 in fines on a weekly basis.

The regulator claims that the gambling site was visited by 376,595 unique IPs between June 2021 and May 2022, and the operator made no effort to block players from gambling. The KSA reminded that operators that do not hold the necessary licenses under the October 1, 2022, reregulation of the market must cease all operations in the Netherlands.

While the regulator keeps targeting rogue brands, the market continues to grow with the addition of new operators such as Tulipa, following the jurisdiction’s re-regulation. The company will now offer online gambling throughout the nation, with its operating domain still pending.

Tulipa Ent has now become the twentieth operator to be licensed in the Netherlands. The Dutch market has seen several new players join this year.
