Live casino specialist Evolution is set to further expand its network of brands with the acquisition of DigiWheel, a developer of an innovative HD spinning game wheel.
Evolution announced Friday that it would pay €1 million in cash for DigiWorld. In addition, the company will make an earn-out payment based on the studio’s net income for the third year following the transaction’s closure.
Established in 2010 by gambling industry veteran John Purcell, DigiWheel specializes in the design, development, and delivery of a spinning wheel that offers a far more immersive user experience and larger potential to increase revenue for online casinos than the traditional spinning wheel.
The studio’s wheel enables users to experience multiple games, HD video, live streaming events, and promotional advertising. Its product offers a 360-degree, fully rotating HD experience that can operate as a live online game.
The wheel comprises an HD screen that can run any money wheel or prize wheel game, now including all of Evolution’s hugely popular game show wheel content such as Dream Catcher and Crazy Time, among other titles.
DigiWheel is the latest creator of unique online casino content to join the Evolution family following the purchase of NetEnt last fall and the recent announcement that the Stockholm-listed live casino giant had entered into an agreement to acquire Big Time Gaming, the online casino studio best known for the internationally acclaimed Megaways mechanic.
Adding Greater Diversity
Once the transaction closes, DigiWheel will continue to operate under its own brand within the larger Evolution group, alongside Evolution, NetEnt, Red Tiger, Ezugi, and Big Time Gaming.
Evolution noted that this latest deal will add even greater diversity to its offering for both online and land-based gambling operators.
Of their latest important announcement, Evolution CEO Martin Carlesund said that they are always looking out for interesting technology and that they have been impressed by DigiWheel’s product. Mr. Carlesund went on that they are delighted to have reached this agreement as DigiWheel represents an excellent fit for their existing offering as they have “had successes with wheel games.”
The Evolution boss also pointed out that this acquisition further demonstrates their commitment to “creating the most immersive and exciting gaming experiences available in online casino.”
DigiWheel chief John Purcell added that their team has worked “tirelessly to create a standout product that is a unique, one-of-a-kind digital gaming innovation” and that this deal will see their offering and technology join the Evolution Group and be “exposed to an even wider global audience of operators and players, which is enormously exciting.”
