Scientific Games Slots & iGaming Re-brand

Industry

Scientific Games has announced that the company is splitting their lottery operations from their slots and igaming divisions. The lottery group will operate as a stand-alone company and retain the Scientific Games name. Meanwhile, the Gaming and iGaming divisions have split-off and rebranded as Light & Wonder.

The Light & Wonder company will establish a cross-platform approach to deliver game franchises to casino players in land-based, online and mobile casinos, and for both real money and free play social games. Light & Wonder’s rebranding does not impact the company’s lottery business or 130 customers in 50 countries worldwide. Scientific Games will continue as a global lottery company and partner with lotteries while Light & Wonder will carve its own path forward.

As announced in October 2021, the sale of Scientific Games’ lottery business to Brookfield Business Partners is expected to close in late March. The Lottery Executive Leadership team will remain in place with some additions to support functional areas as it becomes a stand-alone company. Light & Wonder is operating under this assumed name until the official and legal name change is complete sometime in early 2022.

“These strategic business moves are several years in the making and would not be possible without a true team effort. We congratulate our Gaming and iGaming groups’ rebranding on March 1st. This brings our Lottery organization one step closer to moving forward as a stand-alone, privately held company, focused 100% on our global lottery customers,” said Lottery Group CEO Patrick McHugh.
