DEADyshka Wins As XL Spring Series Events Smash Guarantees

Poker News

Three more XL Spring Series events took place online at 888poker on May 25 and all three obliterated their guaranteed prize pool. The trio had combined guarantees worth $52,000 but they paid out $78,490 by the time they had crowned their champion.

Montenegro’s “DEADyshka” was the biggest winner of the evening courtesy of being the last player standing in the XL Spring #08 – $30,000 PKO event. Some 508 players bought in for $109 and created a $50,800 prize pool. The Montenegrin grinder secured $9,293 of that pot.

All but two of the players who reached the final table walked away with four figures for their efforts. A shout-out must go to Malta’s “Its0kay” who reached yet another XL Spring Series final table. The Malta-based star navigated their way to a fourth place finish worth $2,083.

DEADyshka eventually found themselves heads-up against “VovoDoPicolo” of Malta. Both locked in a shade over $4,000 from the main prize pool, leaving the ample final bounty payments up for grabs. DEADyshka won the one-on-one battle and padded his prize with $5,285 from the bounty prize pool, taking their total haul to $9,293. The runner-up walked away with $5,079 reasons to be happy with their performance.

New Zealand Has an XL Spring Series Champion

Grinding online poker tournaments from parts of the world that are on an entirely different time zone is often seen as a major disadvantage. Someone should tell that to “YeaPizza” who became the XL Spring #09 – $12,000 Mini PKO champion from their home in New Zealand. While most of YeaPizza’s opponents were battling it out as the sun was going down, their day was just getting started. It was probably a great day because they won $1,571 for their $16.50 buy-in.

Some 914 players bought in and created a $13,710 prize pool where half that sum was shared by the top 120 finishers. YeaPizza and the United Kingdom’s “AdamC1987” were the two players who saw their $16.50 investment turn into a four-figure sum. AdamC1987 scooped a total prize weighing in at $1,413 thanks to being aggressive throughout the event and securing $446 worth of bounty payments, only $150 less than the champion.

GodSama Crushed Late PKO Event

Lithuania’s “GodSama” left 465 opponents in their wake in the XL Spring #10 – $10,000 Late PKO event and receive $2,182 of the $13,980 prize pool. The Lithuanian claimed bounty after bounty on their way to an impressive victory. Indeed, their bounty payment tipped the scales at $1,079 which was almost as much as the $1,103 they banked from the main prize pool.

One other player won more than a thousand dollars. “MayanKing” was that player; they scooped up $1,409. MayanKing hails from Guernsey in the Channel Islands, a place not renowned for its poker prowess, although Charlie Carrel was born there so perhaps there is something in the water down there?
