Routier Romps Through Final Table

Following the elimination of Day 1b chip leader Laszlo Molnar (10th – £18,540), the nine-handed final table was set.

Routier started off as one of the short stacks and was able to begin his ladder up the leaderboard after Stefan Ianuszewicz departed in ninth-place. The Romanian’s pocket tens couldn’t hold against the ace-queen held by Pedro Gois Neves.

Neves then secured his second final table bust out, sending Ian Gascoigne to the rail after leapfrogged the pocket deuces of the Englishman. Routier then boosted his chip stack and felted Mateusz Wozniak. Routier was on the right side of a preflop cooler, as his pocket kings held out against the pocket queens of his opponent.

Runner-up Hrabec sent out the United StatesGabriel Roberts in sixth-place before Routier KO’d Martin Hellmuth to set-up four handed play.

The momentum continued for the eventual winner as he eliminated Martin Stausholm for his third final table casualty. Stausholm’s ace-ten was the favourite but after the board ran out, Routier’s king-jack was the only hand to pair up.

Routier began the final three with the chip lead and never looked back. He quickly wrapped up the win, first by despatching Neves to take a commanding lead heading into heads-up play. The final hand of the night saw Hrabec jam with king-five and was snap-called after Routier woke up with pocket queens. The pair held out for the victory and allowed Routier to claim the biggest score of his career.
