Join The Epic Pirate Adventure in Yggdrasil’s And Peter & Sons New Slot: Barbarossa DoubleMax

Casino News

Following a previous collaboration with Armenia-based Peter & Sons and the release of the intriguing slot Book of Books, on May 16, Yggdrasil, a Malta-based globally recognized iGaming provider, has once again joined forces with its longtime ally to officially release Barbarossa DoubleMax, a pirate-themed slot featuring the fictional pirate captain Barbarossa in Raiders of the Seven Seas and his treasure-hunting adventures.

Outstanding visual:

True to its name, the main theme of the slot is the aforementioned pirate Barbarossa. The game takes place in the waters of a tropical beach, where the reels are also placed, with a large rock to the right where the bay ends. To the left is a cannon that fires a multiplier on the reels, which doubles each time the player makes a new, consecutive win, representing the DoubleMax Game Engagement Mechanic (GEM) developed by Yggdrasil. In addition, the slot is boosted by GATI, a powerful slot mechanic developed by Yggdrasil which provides its B2B partners an opportunity to acquire a legal, approved, pre-configured company development tool that allows them to quickly create innovative content followed by rapid distribution.

To win, players must form a combination of matching symbols on 3 adjacent reels, beginning from the first reel on the left on a dynamic 5×3 grid equipped with 243 winning ways.

The basic low-value symbols are liquor bottles, anchors, steering wheels, pocket compasses and revolvers, while the high-value bonus symbols are 5 pirates, two men and two women plus a captain with a big, red beard, which is Barbarossa. A combination of five low-value symbols is worth 2,5x and 3x, increasing to 5x and 10x a player’s bet for a combination of five high-value bonus symbols.

The game has high volatility, a maximum win of 20,000x a player’s bet, a solid RTP of 96.2% and the game can be played on any device.

Slot features:

Wild symbol – the Wild, aka a W with a frame resembling a compass needle, replaces for all regular symbols except the Scatter.

Golden Bet – if the player chooses to pay 50% of the standard bet, they will activate this feature, which doubles the player’s chances of activating the Free Spins.

Wild Cascades – each win activates a cascade, which further causes the winning symbols to disappear from the reels and the Wild to be added to a random position before new symbols fill the grid. If players are able to create a new win, the winning symbols will be removed again while new ones are added.

The player will receive a 2x win multiplier on the first win, which is doubled for each consecutive win as mentioned above. The feature will last as long as the player creates new wins and the multiplier resets between spins in the base game.

Multiplier Jump – there’s a random chance for the multiplier to grow by one level. The feature may be activated 3 times in a row.

Free Spins – a combination of 3, 4 or 5 Scatters anywhere on the reels activates 7, 10 or 13 free spins. The win multiplier never resets between spins and the player can’t activate additional spins in the feature.

Bonus Buy – player can buy 7 free spins for 100x of the bet.

Commenting on the launch, Stuart McCarthy, Head of Product & Programs at Yggdrasil, said: “We’re delighted with this swashbuckling new slot. It’s another winning title that we truly believe will succeed thanks to its excellent features and mechanics, especially the DoubleMax GEM.”

Yann Bautista, Business Development Manager at Peter & Sons, added: “Working alongside Yggdrasil to develop new titles like Barbarossa DoubleMax has been fantastic for us as we continue our mission to deliver thrilling experiences and great artwork to players around the globe.”
