Wayne Newton to Stay in Vegas Through 2024

Few performers are so synonymous with Las Vegas as Wayne Newton. And say what you will about the aging icon, but few have as much staying power. Now, Mr. Newton has extended his Sin City residency all the way to June of next year.

He was just a teenager when he began singing, and he was a headliner in Las Vegas by 1963, playing at the Flamingo. Since then, he has never left the Strip. His old-school style of nostalgia has held up well over the years, and today he’s still going strong.

Now, Wayne Newton has extend his shows at Flamingo by adding over 60 new dates. Often called Mr. Las Vegas, only artists like Barry Manilow and Tony Bennett have as much appeal.And at this point, one could argue he’s more about Las Vegas than even Elvis Presley or Frank Sinatra were!

Wayne Newton performed hi 25,000th Las Vegas show as a headliner all the way back in 1996. And the only times he wasn’t consistently on stage was during the Covid lock downs. His current show is called “Up Close and Personal” and includes many of his favorites, from “Danke Schoen” to “Red Roses for a Blue Lady”, and from “At This Moment” to “Summer Wind.”

Born in Virginia, he was just four years old when he decided to become a singer. His parents had taken him to see a Grand Ole Opry road show in Roanoke and he watched, wide-eyed, as Hank Williams and Kitty Wells, among others, performed. When it was over, he said to his mother, “That’s what I want to do.”
