Brazil’s “Entaotoma” sat down at the 888poker $100,000 Mystery Bounty Main Event sixth from eight in chips. Armed with 25 big blinds, they weren’t particularly short, but its challenging to think they seriously fancied their chances of walking away with a victory, especially as the top two stacks held 138 big blinds between them.

However, tournament poker is a funny old game, and two hours after the first cards were pitched, “Entaotoma” emerged victoriously from the final table with a $8,154 payout and the title of champion.

This week’s $100,000 Mystery Bounty Main Event saw 970 entrants fight it out at the 888poker online poker tables. Although “Allejo7” saw their tournament end in 55th place for $140, they took home the largest prize of the event courtesy of pulling a $10,000 mystery bounty from its golden envelope.

“BrownBrit” and “ivanascasubi” banked $3,000 bounties, with the former also opening a $1,000 score before busting in 29th.

$100,000 Mystery Bounty Main Event Final Table Chip Counts

1 DrDreddly United Kingdom 4,303,825 86
2 Ramlalb14 Trinidad & Tobago 2,614,840 52

6 Entaotoma Brazil 1,252,270 25
7 0nlyBet Cyprus 1,163,318 23
8 Pavelsport Ukraine 558,529 11

Only ten minutes passed at the final table before the first casualty was confirmed. “Pavelsport” sat down with 11 big blinds, but that stack had dwindled to a shade over six big blinds. They open-shoved with ace-ten from middle position only for “0nlyBet” to re-shove with pocket queens in the cutoff. “0nlyBet” reshoved to isolate, which had the desired effect. The queens flopped a set, and “Pavelsport” was gone.

Despite winning that pot, “0nlyBet” was the next player heading for the rail. The hand after the elimination, “0nlyBet” min-raised to 120,000 with king-queen of diamonds, “pactamah23” three-bet to 360,000 from the next seat along with king-jack of clubs, and the initial raiser jammed for 1,376,847 in total. “pactamah23” used most of their timebank before calling off half of their stack. Their call was rewarded with a jack on the turn, enough to reduce the player count by one.

Sixth place went to Brazil’s “GodBleefe7” in a hand that reshaped the direction of the final table. Chip leader “DrDreaddly” min-raised to 160,000 in late position with pocket deuces, “GodBleefe7” three-bet to 880,000 in the cutoff, and “Entaotoma” min-four-bet to 1,600,000 in the small blind with pocket jacks. “DrDreaddly” got out of the way, but “GodBleefe7” called off the 160,052 they had behind. The jacks held on a queen-high board, busting “GodBleffe7” and bolstering the stack of “Entaotoma” to around 38 big blinds.

The final five became four when “Ramblalb14” of Trinidad & Tobago ran out of steam. The Trinidadian was second in chips at the start of the final table action, but nothing seemed to go right for them. Their exit hand was a continuation of their running bad, with them turning top pair in a single raised pot that was a button versus big blind scenario. “pactamah23” set “Ramblalb14” all in on the river, they called, and were shown pocket aces.

By this stage, “Entaotoma” was the chip leader and was playing aggressively while picking up hands and running well, a deadly combination. They improved their tournament-leading stack and bounty haul when they raise-called a 12 big blind shove from “pactamah23” with ace-ten of hearts and came from behind to beat the dominating ace-queen of clubs.

They then dispatched “DrDreaddly” in a massive pot that saw “DrDreaddly” four-bet shove with pocket tens only for “Entaotoma” to snap them off with pocket queens. That hand gifted the champion-elect a colossal 11,541,566 to 3,008,434 chip lead over “nice1baby.”

Although neutrals wished for an epic comeback from the trailing player, it was not meant to be. A few hands into heads-up, “nice1baby” open-shoved with king-nine of spades for ten big blinds, and “Entaotoma” called with ace-three of diamonds. Both players made a pair on the flop, “Entaotoma’s” being a pair of aces. The turn and river bricked for the at-risk player, and they headed for the exits in second place, leaving “Entaotoma” to become the latest 888poker Mystery Bounty Main Event champion.
