IXIO GamblingCompliance has announced the official shortlist for the 2021 Global Regulatory Awards (GRAs).

Now in their fifth year, the VIXIO GRAs aim at recognizing and celebrating the achievements of individuals, teams and businesses across the gambling landscape who have excelled in the field of compliance, corporate social responsibility and responsible gambling over the course of the year.

“This year’s shortlist showcases a host of progressive businesses, all of which have demonstrated resilience in a recovering global economy,” stated VIXIO on the announcement.

The regulatory intelligence provider considers the shortlisted businesses to have shown the ability to adapt to an increasingly complex regulatory environment, as well as being able to innovate while embracing responsible gambling.

“This year has been one of the most competitive years yet, with the judges having to consider yet another record number of entries to shortlist just under 100 finalists across 18 categories,” said Mike Woolfrey, VIXIO CEO. “Every year the standard gets higher as the industry moves to an ever-greater culture of compliance.”

The ceremony is set to award excellence in fields such as Anti-Money Laundering Team of the Year, Commitment to Compliance by an Affiliate Company, and Outstanding Individual Contribution to Responsible Gambling. Entries for the awards opened on May 17 and closed on July 30.

The full list of 20 categories, and their respective nominees, is now live on the Global Regulatory Awards webpage. Four new categories were added for this edition: Outstanding Contribution to Safer Gambling, Outstanding Contribution to Sports Betting Integrity, Responsible Gambling Serve or Solution Provider of the Year, and Sager Gambling Campaign of the Year.

Moreover, three new judges have also been added to the panel: Richard Flint, former CEO of Skybet and current board member at Flutter; Jon Duffy, Director of Corporate Assurance and Regulatory Affairs at Genting Casinos UK; and Khalid Ali, CEO, International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA).

The CEO describes the VIXIO GRAs judging as “extremely rigorous” and promises the awards to be hotly contested, which means being shortlisted in itself implies a “highly significant” achievement. “We look forward to welcoming everyone for a very special evening of celebration,” added Woolfrey.

The presentation of the 2021 Global Regulatory Award winners is set to take place in-person at a black-tie ceremony in De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in Central London, on October 21, in partnership with charity sponsor Young Gamers and Gamblers Education Trust (YGAM). The event venue was also the host of the Global Regulatory Awards 2019.
