Pragmatic Play granted Greek supplier license; appoints new Country Director for Brazil

Casino News

In addition to recently expanding its presence in Brazil, Pragmatic Play has taken a “crucial step” into the newly-regulated Greek iGaming market after securing an A1 sullpier license from the Hellenic Gambling Commission (HGC).

The milestone advance, allows the Gibrlatar-based compny to continue to deliver its premium slots and live casino titles to the southeastern European country’s market under new regulations.

Hot market:

After a new online gambling reform bill found success in the Greek parliament in 2019, the licensing process was opened in the southeastern European country by the HGC in October 2020. The reforms were part of a wide-ranging package, called “Invest in Greece,” designed to boost economic development in the country.

Suppliers have wasted no time entering what is one of Europe’s “most coveted” regulated markets as the new regulation came into effect on August 1, 2021.

Players in Greece are now able to enjoy popular titles such as the 3×5, 25 lines video slotWolf Gold, along with Sweet Bonanza, as well as more recently released hits Fruit Party 2, the food-inspired, Yum Yum Powerways, and Chilli Heat Megaways.

After strengthening its existing partnership with Greece’s leading gaming technology company, Kaizen Gaming, in early May, and a month earlier partnering with sportsbook and online casino operator Novibet, the license serves to reinforce Pragmatic’s position in the lucrative Greek market.

Commenting on the achievement in a company press release, Sheriff Khamoura, Director of Compliance for Pragmatic Play said…

“We are thrilled to take a crucial step into the Greek market by being granted this A1 Licence. This is a great opportunity for us to continue delivering our expanding product offering to Greek Operators.”

LatAm focus:

The news comes at the same time as the company reinforces its Brazil team, appointing a new country director, a position that is “fully in line” with Pragmatic’s approach of offering a “localized perspective” on its games portfolio from “specialists with far-reaching regional expertise.” The new “key hire,” Marco Pequeno, will reportedly be tasked with servicing and developing new opportunities in what is a “targeted market” within its hub in Latin America.

In the past months, the provider has been aggressive in increasing its exposure across Latin America, having recently inked a series of other strategic alliances with operators such as Loto Giro in Brazil, BetDiamond in Paraguay, and with specialist provider of B2B services for the iGaming industry, Dotworkers. The moves further demonstrate th ecompany’s intention to maintain its position as a major player in the wider LatAm region.

Victor Arias, Vice President of Latam Operations for Pragmatic Play commented on the appointment, stating…

“Our dedication to growing in Latin America is evident and we’re very proud to expand our presence in the country by appointing a dedicated Brazilian team member.

He goes on to say that since establishing its LatAm hub only a year ago, this is “another fantastic milestone” for them as they set their sights on expanding even further in the continent.

New slot:

Fans can also check out the provider’s brand new high volatility title, Bigger Bass Bonanza, which launched on September 16th. The fishing themed, 5-reel4-row online slot with 12 fixed paylines is the sequel to Big Bass Bonanza, which was released in December 2020 by Pragmatic Play partner Reel Kingdom and features an elusive fish scatter worth 4,000x the bet.
